Supported iPhones, cards and regions
iPhone XS or later on the latest iOS, with an Apple Account signed in. Contactless cards, Apple Pay and other digital wallets — no stripes and no chip-and-insert.
Before you start
Four things have to line up. The first two are Apple’s, the third is the customer’s, and the fourth is your Org’s.
The iPhone
iPhone XS or later, running the latest version of iOS. Older models cannot run Tap to Pay on iPhone at all — this is not a setting.
An Apple Account must be signed in on the iPhone, because Apple’s Terms and Conditions are accepted against one. Setup stops with a plain message if there is not one.
Nothing is attached to the phone. There is no reader to buy, charge, pair or lose.
What the customer can pay with
Yes: contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets — including a customer paying from their own iPhone or Apple Watch.
No: magnetic stripes, and chip-and-insert. There is no slot and no swipe.
Some contactless cards may not be accepted, and some cannot complete a transaction that asks for a PIN. If that happens, ask whether the customer has another contactless card or a digital wallet.
Transaction limits may apply, and they are set by the card and the issuer rather than by Pippin.
Regions
Tap to Pay on iPhone is not available in all markets. Apple keeps the current list, and it is the only list worth trusting:

Your Stripe account
Stripe has to accept the Org’s account for card-present payments. If it does not, Pippin says so plainly — and nothing done on the iPhone will change it. That conversation is with Stripe.
Good to know
Setup is per iPhone, because accepting Apple’s terms is something an Apple Account does on a particular device. Turning it on for the Org once still means each iPhone that will take payments goes through setup once.
